Why Overcast Weather is Actually Perfect for Your Session

I love a cloudy day beach session! Don't get me wrong I also love a clear sky and colorful sunset but… I personally like a cloudy night for sessions. I know you are probably thinking something along the lines of “What the heck, why would you want it to be cloudy?” Well, let me explain myself. The clouds act as a giant diffuser for the sun so there are no harsh shadows. This allows me to focus fully on posing and having a good time instead of trying to find the perfect angle so the light doesn't look weird on your face. This session is a perfect example of that! Because it was a cloudy night I could shoot in every direction and try fun new prompts that I would typically not do because I would be too focused on the lighting. Again don’t get me wrong I LOVE a full sunset and the golden hour glow and you will get beautiful photos regardless of what the sky looks like. But I love a cloudy night session. 

Sorry about that little TED talk, we can move on now... LET’S TALK ABOUT THESE TWO! Megan and James were so much fun to ork with. They vacation in Emerald Isle in the summer and thought it would be special to take pictures at the beach near the house so that’s what we did. We met up and golf carted over to the beach spot. Since it wasn’t public access and still not in peak season we had the beach to ourselves! When booking Megan knew she wanted fun candid pictures so that’s what I focused on during the session. I tried new prompts and poses and I will 100% be using them again! I love the playfulness of these photos. You can feel it just by looking at them!
